Since 1767, Polynesian lives have been hugely impacted. Previously they had only the flora and fauna they brought with them. They had no metal, no pottery, no wheels and no written word.

The arrival of the europeans in the late 1700's could only be an enormous culture shock. On Tahiti the missionaries were severe, much was forbidden, much has been lost, but today there is renewal.
